The artist, Jeong Dae Hyun, who is inspired from figurative motif creates abstract formation that provides us a visual illusion between intersection of past and current. For this exhibition, the artist recollecting the colors of one's past memories that pictorialize the lavish vivid colors. The rainbow colors or greenish color of leaves the old palace dancheong(traditional multicolored paintwork on wooden buildings) etc. are the fragment of memories, which the artist had built an object; an abstract massive sculptural formation.
The cumulative objects are similar pattern of traditional urban housing roof tiles. And the uprising and natural formation curves of eaves are exquisite forms, which is derived from past memories beyond colors, lines and phases.
While the artist's eyesight is getting deteriorated by years, he was possessive about 'color'. Then he wanted to express the colors of the environment in his childhood memories. The sparkling light passing through the fluffy clouds, the orange sunset balancing between the light and depth, while the colors of glittering stars scattered out in the midnight sky, the nature of trees with blue tone are the elements that are included in the artworks. This exhibition presents a intense and massive sculpture that included the Korean beauty of figurative pureness of color throughout various experiments, while providing the viewers to experience the independent division of artist's statement.
