Kim, Chung-Jung

Kim represents inner light and calm echoes of sound by maximizing characters of each materials such as stainless steel, strengthened mirror, acryl, and stone along with the moderate shape of them. Roaring light from inside of the sculpture slowly lays on and spreads all over the floor and is retracted by the pile of strengthened mirror. It looks like light coming out of frozen water surface of a river in the winter. The light from layered transparent mirrors makes meditative mood in the space. Straight and slim rays of light root right in the middle of the stainless hemisphere shape, and it shows systematical order. However, the sound of those rays of light seems like reed scattering by the wind.Kim uses calm light and echoes of sound made by all different elements and looks for desolate world of meditation which embraces the nature.
