JOO, MYUNG-DUCK landscape

Joo, Myung-Duck, who bases on the essential characters of photograph, has been taking pitcures of Korean society and environment. He expressed social problems to his photographs, and averted his eyes to Korean Shamanism and cultural inheritance through his camera angle. In recent, his 'Landscape' series contain the motif of metaphysical philosophy and imply the picturesque parts.

The theme of this exhibition is 'Landscape'. From the mid 80s, he has been representing 'Korean landscape', 'Lost landscapes' and 'Townscape' printed very dark forms. The reason why his pictures don't show exactly could be explained as his will to avoid narrative pictures. The dark pictures as his unique type are free from narrative explanation rather than meaning of something.

He focuses on the mountains again, but he shows us the significant change of colour print in the exhibition. He intends to give us deeper and more silent feeling through his photographs, colour printed but cannot be showed the existence exactly because of the darkness.
