Park, Hyunjoo - Inner Light 2003

"Inner Light" is a series of Park, Hyunjoo's works in which she explored various coincidental effect of light. If an illusion is created in traditional painting by the most common artistic technique of chiaroscuro or the basic three-dimensional modeling, the illusion in "Inner Light" is created by a series of illusive effect of Light. The illusion of light in "Inner Light" is the vision that was created by chance, and it is also an illusion that was created from the phenomena of light. The visible phenomenon of light can also show people the place beyond the boundaries of the material world-through the illusion of light. Park, Hyunjoo shows "light" flowing from the rectangle-shape acrylic works as well as the projection of "light" reflecting off the glided surfaces. According to her, the study of light means self-examination and self-reflection of her way and manner toward the life, and she realizes that the process of chasing the light is the process of finding herself at the end.
